Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot – Review

Dragon Ball Z Kakarot Review

Hey everyone, so today we will be reviewing a new Dragon Ball Z game.It has been a long time since a decent Dragon Ball Z game came out,I have been playing it for about 18 Hours and almost completed 2/3 of it.From what I have experience so far I can say that it is far better than the Dragon Ball games we received so far with great plots and story but it still lacks in many ways we will talk about that in detail. So lets dive into Dragon Ball Z Kakarot review.

How is the gameplay ?

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a semi open world with some RPG elements. This game loosely follows the anime plot,it starts with goku who fell on earth many years ago.He is meditating in order to relive a battle with his past foe piccolo ,this battle serves as a tutorial for the game and will help you get familiar with controls of the game.At first you find them a bit complex but once you gets used to them they are actually very easy to control.

You first start as Goku but as you progress through the game you will be able to unlock more characters, also you will be able to unlock amazing skills which require you to have support characters unlock. These attacks are very powerful and requires to charge your ki. And last but not the least it obviously comes with many different forms that we all love and adore which will also be unlocked as you complete storylines.

As this is a semi open world once you complete main quests in the game there are many side quests you can take part in, this is where the game lacks because the side quests in this game are not very interesting except few they involve small mini games which are dull which requires you to complete tiresome tasks like collecting vegetables for cooking food etc and also the rewards are also not that high. But if you can ignore that the gameplay of this game is very good.

What type of game is this ?

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has provided us with a semi open world and amazing fight scenes so its kind of a RPG game but also when the fighting starts it feels more like a fighting game.Once you finish the main quests you can free roam in the the open world, there are many things other than the main story to keep you occupied in the game.

The side quests include mini games in which some of them are very amazing and enjoying to play and there are also side quests which asks you to complete menial tasks like collecting things and stuff.Fishing is also a option in the game if you even get bored of both side quests and the main story of the game to pass the time.

Does Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot replicates the story of the main series ?

The game really did a great job on covering the entire Dragon Ball series within the game and covers most of the events of the series thus far.As a big Dragon Ball Z fan who grew up watching it,I really loved revisiting some of the stuff. You can even say that this is once of the best representation of Dragon Ball Z main sagas in a video game.Although they have changed few stuff here and there but that actually helps the game to be played smoothly and doesn’t really affect the story much.

But as a fan who has been following the Dragon Ball Z saga for the childhood I think that adding Bruce Faulconer’s soundtrack would have made it a lot better and also made some of the die hard fans of this series very happy.

List of playable characters.

Although the game may include the real name of Goku but its not just about him rather its about the whole Dragon Ball Z saga and there are many players other than Son Goku that you can play with which includes Vegeta,Goku’s son Gohan,Piccolo and many more.

This is a full list of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot playable characters.

  • Goku

Is this game any good ?

So if we talk about in the term of good or bad then I can surely say that overall the game is really good. Since I started it I have been really enjoying it. Its frantic retelling of a well-worn story enables it to dig deeper into the world and characters of Dragon Ball Z.

The main story of the game is very amazing and fun to play but once you complete a main quest and experience the semi-open world of the game to you will find side quests which are really boring and even the rewards you get for completing them are also not fulfilling enough.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot cannot be considered a perfect game but as a Dragon Ball Z saga fan its really fun to experience the whole Dragon Ball Z series in the game and also it can be a nice way for people who have not watched Dragon Ball Z to enter into the series.
